Square One

Happy Halloween!  Today, Mr. Martin gave us our new challenge: 2 minutes to score 100 points. Stars are worth 5, cubes are worth 10, a low hang is worth 20 and a high hang is worth 40.  In order to accomplish this we are starting from square one.  The slip gear was great on paper but just didn't pan out in reality. Our challenge date is Friday November 15th.  We can do this.

We Survived

Yesterday, we managed to get three stars over in a minute.  It is ultimately unimpressive, but it got us the grade we needed.  There is no doubt we need to change things on our robot.  Regardless, we are happy we got the grade and have time to fix our mistakes.

IN A HURRY

Today we have been informed that Wednesday is the final day to be able to get a stars over the fence. We realized that our launching mechanism was too unreliable so we decided to scrap it and we are now building an alternative robot arm
.
We are lucky that we have our coding and solid works done so we can spend our time on just building.

Day 16

Today, we hope to finish our challenge. Since we were short on time, we made some major renovations to complete the first challenge. We had to abandon the initial idea of using a slip gear until we have more time to fine tune it. Right now, we are just using a simple two motor system. Hopefully we will complete the challenge by the end of class today.

Day 15

Today, the majority of our group went on a field trip to see engineers in action in the field. We didn't do much on our robot. Wednesday is our first deadline so we have to put the petal to the metal.  We may have to come in early Wednesday to finish on time.

Day 14

We accomplished alot this week.  We were able to obtain all the motor controllers our hearts could desire.  Nick worked on the code while the rest of us added the controllers and arm.  We should finish on time.

This week we are building the arm for the robot. We originally had it done but then we decided to scrap it and rebuild when the new metal got in. Besides that we are finishing the solid works for the robot and continuing our progress to be finished by next week.

Day 12

This week was not exactly productive -- after all, it was only two days.  Hurricane Matthew has shut down our schools so we can't accomplish much.  It is supposed to hit us as a catergory 4, yay.  Otherwise, our solidworks isn't exporting correctly and we are slightly distracted due to Disney character day.

Matthew

Today there was no school but we are excited to get to work for the coming week. Although we want to get to work on our robot we don't know whether or not school will be out due to hurricane Matthew

So far this is the forecasted trajectory of the hurricane.

Mr Martin has given us the deadline in which our robot and solid works needs to be done, and we plan on having it done before then, we deconstructed our robot and we've begun on what is the final iteration of what it will look like.
